Stair replacement
It would be great to be able to more efficiently be able to replace stairs instead of having to dismantle everything that they touch in order to dismantle the stairs and then re-place them, as it can be troublesome to have to dismantle and rebuild half a castle just in order to change the color of my stairs that ended up regretting halfway through the build.

SimrienHighlighted comment
This has been an issue since the game released into early access.
With the increasing number of themes, I and no doubt others want to change the aesthetic of their castle without resorting to jiggory pokery or having to demolish half the castle.
Please please please make this happen. -

EdEn MergedWhen you hover over the stairs in build mode, highlight every object that requires it for support in red. Holding the delete button for the staircase produces a confirmation prompt informing the player that if they disassemble the stairs, they will disassemble all highlighted pieces as well. The number of pieces at risk is listed in the prompt (so no one accidentally deletes an entire floor without being informed first).
If you pick up the stairs to move them elsewhere instead of deleting them, the highlight will change dynamically to reflect what is and is not supported at the new location (i.e., pick up stairs > second floor turns red > connect the stairs elsewhere > second floor returns to normal, unsupported walls and columns in the old location remain in red and at risk). A similar prompt occurs once the player confirms the placement. -

Drayco84The ability to just REPLACE stairs would also be a much appreciated option. IE you unlocked a new type of stairs, so you select a that and replace the old stairs with the new one of the same shape.
Basically, the same thing you can do with walls, windows, and doors. Swap them out interchangably without having to remove the existing one and build the new in the now vacant place. -

Yonder GanderThe remedy I use is placing stairs somewhere else(create a second "path to ground"). Then remove the first floor you want changed. It's dumb that you can place stairs with walls already there, but then cannot remove the stairs until you remove all the walls and pillars connected to them. Either stop letting us place stairs where walls already are, or let us remove stairs connected to walls/pillars. Floors are the same way, you can place them where walls are, but cannot remove them. You can only change them with a different floor.

moshhammer2 solutions that come to my mind:
-1- Make stairs work like carpets etc. So you just can hold CTRL and change the appearance once unlocked this might not work with how that system is implemented tho
-2- make it so you just can replace stairs the way to can replace walls or floors -

MorganThis!!! I just downloaded the expansion pack DLC and want to replace my stairs with the new fancy ones I have now, without having to destroy my castle to do it.
Would be great if it could be like changing the coloured wallpaper/floors, just highlighting and pressing CTRL. -

DripyulaIn general what I think is completely unncessary is that you cannot place stairs next to each other.
This limits so many esthetic possibilities. ; /
Or how the middle section of the curved stair is actually an "interior" place. It looks so wierd to place the curved stair outside in the Hallowed Mountains and when you stop in the middle-section, it stops snowing. :D
That is just a minor annoyance for atmosphere.
But that clearly shows there is unfinished business left that Stunlock might have forgotten about. ^_^ -

OrelethI am literally begging for this. Sometimes you buklding thinking one eay and end up going a completely different direction.
Either let us change them like how you can change colours in building mode. There's literally no reason not to do this version as they all cost the same building materials.
If that's too difficult; let us place them over existing stairs to replace. -

Misc comment monkeyPlease do something about the stair situation! I need to delete half a castle just to replace one set of stairs with a different skin. It's just bonkers I tell you!

MithranArkanereMaybe it could help if by holding the delete button for longer, instead of just getting a message telling you the name of what blocks the removal, what blocks the removal begins to glow red to let you see what is it.
Hold the remove button a few more seconds, and what glows red gets deconstructed right away, saving you time.
So the red glow would be both info and a delay to prevent accidental removals. -

MarieI am new to the game and I am having a blast. So many things have been done right with this game. However, not being able to easily replace stairs it’s a major let down. I gave up and stayed with the starting stairs because it’s so frustrating having to tear down half of the castle to just change the look. What if I get another DLC and want to change them often??? I would probably stop playing out of frustration. Please fix!!!!’ 😭😭😭

MithranArkanereI would welcome both replacing a stair with another stair of the same size, and being able to apply a foundation tile to a stair to replace its 2 base tiles, if it's possible.
