No weapon unlocks past Act 2!!!
I already thought it was a bit TEDIOUS to have to wait until Domina the Blade Dancer to unlock the Whip, but then Oakveil moved the SLASHERS to Jakira the Shadow Huntress at level 75!? (78 on Brutal). That is almost halfway through Act 4! That is ENDGAME! You are going to make Slasher fans wait until NEAR ENDGAME to get their favorite weapon!?
If this was a decision made for some form of PvP balance I can already tell you it was the WRONG decision. Do not balance PvP via unlocks. Balance it through the weapon stats themselves.
I do not think anyone would mind if you put the Slashers back on Bane and gave him TWO weapon unlocks.
... and while you are at it maybe consider moving the Whip down to Finn. I will suggest this again, yes.

Slashers are just too good I think. They have the greatest skills & moveset out of all melee weapons.
The 'Clouddancer' is also my go-to-choice when fighting Dracula.
The second dash fowards with I-frames is just invaluable during the whole fight.
But it is especially during Phase.4 in brutal, where Dracula goes into "Touhou bullet hell" mode.
You can go invisible and force a boss to lose pressure on you even in a solo-fight for a few seconds that just might be enough to give you the escape-dash again, or the 'Q' which is again -> an attack AND evasure at the same time.
Sword can make you evade with the slash over the ground and if you "jump into that" with the follow up.
Daggers have an escape jump. Greatsword has an escape jump. But the positioning feeling of the Slicer just feel so much superior to me.
And the Twinblade's "jump"(?) is something I never even tried cause I can only do it after a long wind-up of having to place my weapon first.
Slicers -> best weapon hands down. -

PsykoCatAbsolutely agree. Always disliked having to wait for iron to get the slasher but it was ok enough. Lvl 75 tho? Thats crazy late. And thats even without considering the multiple nerf the weapon got due to its strength in pvp.
Not the biggest fan of nerfing weapon because of pvp. They did nerf chaos magic and such but iirc, it was more like a rebalance of power? idk. its a touchy subject. W/E this, slasher lvl 75 is not the way -

eldar_seerAgreed on letting the slasher be returned to its previous place in unlocks. The earlier they are unlocked, the more builds are viable. At level 75? If that's what you're doing, you might as well remove them from the game entirely because players barely get to use them. I'm stunned this made it out of playtesting.

DavidHoginsI had this feeling that Bane would get swapped for the throwing knifes, because he always used them, but damn moving the slashers even further was a bad move.
I already think the whip should be moved closer to us, with something like FInn or whatever. -
02 May, '25
yaoLet's make GS, knives, whip and everything besides the most basic weapons unlock at level 90. Why not?!
-
02 May, '25
StromEvery weapon should be unlocked by the time you're done with act 2, making people wait just for a specific playstyle weapon is not fun.

John TravoltaAnother amazing game getting ruined by mediocre rust-like PvP? Such a surprise. What should we do guys, make the weapon unusable in PvE to balance it for PvP or just give it to them for the last 2 minutes of the game.. hmmmm

NikI can't upvote this since it says; "Voting for this suggestion is temporarily disabled, due to an unusual level of voting activity. Voting will be re-enabled in a few minutes."
But regardless, this is something I agree with whole heartedly.
ACT 1 is the intro to the game, not too much to confuse the players or stress them out, it flows quite well.
ACT 2 is where the meat of the game starts to really unlock, but it feels so bad when you can't get all the weapons you'd like, ACT 3 and 4 kinda goes quick overall, ACT 2 is the 'main' portion really, it's where your castle building starts to pick up pace, proper rooms for all the different types, organisation, multiple gear ups, etc.
It just makes sense to have ALL weapon types to unlock in this stage, it sucks that some are much further down to the point that you don't even use them because you've invested into others. -

CelerionAny weapon unlock past player level 65 and therefore after dark silver is available is idiotic.
There is an unlock for the Slashers in tech tier 2 (iron quality) to push them from 15 to 18... why? There are even power 20 magical drops for the Ancestral Forge, that you will never ever use when they get unlocked past level 70.
It seems to me, that there where too much concerns about PvP and this was an "easy" solution.
Version 1.1 ist great in so many regards and there are seemingly countless improvements and QoL things, that make the game a lot better and more fun to play, but this decision is bugging me out of my mind. Perhaps because the Slashers where my favorite weapon since they where introduced in early access and I'm an PvE only player. -

AvatarThere's another problem with this: Ancestral Slashers at gear level 20 still drop, but these seem to have no purpose in the game by the time you unlock them.
-
05 May, '25
SkyhijinxThe fact that I have the Merciless Iron Slashers option in my forge, I have the broken Ancestral Forge slashers ready to craft, but yet I cannot yet make the basic Iron Slashers at GS 63 is so frustrating.

JulupsI wonder if they could just change the weapon unlock system entirely. Make a new research structure for it, and just earn points from boss fights instead of specific unlocks. But don't make it random, players need to be able to choose specific unlocks to spend their points on.
They could even have categories you earn points in, so beating certain bosses still contributes to a thematic set of weapons. -

chirubimeHaven't gotten the chance to upvote this for the few times I've checked in on this. Please let us play with the slashers earlier. Thank you.

AJI am not an slasher fan to be frank I only use it to pass mobs with invisibility but what I want to know if slashers were going to be put on lvl 75 boss why is there a merciless IRON slasher option in game? 75 is already in silver gear :D

RagnarDisagree entirely, trivial nonsense, just play and unlock the weapons stop trying to make the game too easy
-

loopslasher boss should really move her to that one sacrificial pyre thing in dunley and drop her level so you can get slashers at the same time as the other weapons. She's a roaming boss anyway. Just have her roam to dunley and have her lore involve making a sacrifice there to expand the serpent lady's influence.

Elinsameegive bane back his blades, let him have 2 weapons. In fact, you spend scrolls to learn a recipe that opens at 75. This is bullshit
-
08 May, '25
DyamondeUntil just now i thought this was actually a bug and they were still supposed to be on Bane (giving him Slashers and throwing knive unlocks). ESPECIALLY because you can have the Merciless Upgrade for them even way before you kill Bane.
Putting it on a lvl 75 V blood is just insane... -

Darkest King"Unusual level of voting activity" - No, Stunlock. I think people just LIKE this idea is all.
-
10 May, '25
thehenwithatieWholeheartedly agree with all these sentiments. One of the most annoying things about this whole ordeal as a new player to the game is that I got so confused when unlocking the merciless recipe, and I'm scratching my head wondering where the hell the last weapon unlock is. Level 75 is absolutely crazy far away to put them, especially since, reading what other people say about them, sounds like my favorite kind of weapon.

PovilasI think Foulrot the soultaker could have slashers, because V blood double slash attack and invisibility similar to slasher.
-
12 May, '25
Darkest King@Povilas - I cannot believe I did not consider that. Yes! Foulrot absolutely does use Slashers! Although I still think they should not be higher than Act 2 but at least Foulrot would be a better compromise than having them all the way up on Jakira in Act 4...

BunnyNo Weapons and SCHOOLS should be blocked by Act that far.
First o think every boss should unlock a Tier Point Spell so we can CHOOSE our Scholar spells. Like unlocking 1 tier 1, means you choose whatever skill tier 1.
Why the game blocks everything being such levels? Why to play with a element or a weapon you like you need expend a lot more time just to reach it.
Variety should be the focus.
No Weapons block past the tutorial, and not Scholar Points block behind Boss.
If we had the option to choose weapons and skill after tutorial, would be much better. -
17 May, '25
Lucky Beanwow, super unhappy with the change of levels. I could understand pushing it back maybe 3-5 levels, but up to 75? there is no point in having a weapon unlock so late in the game, at that point we're not learning new weapon skills, we're honing existing ones in time to fight dracula. Bring it back into Dunley for unlocking, and then the iron recipes for it will also make sense!
-

SamuelVoting restricted, so making a comment instead.
I absolutely agree with this.
It makes no sense to lock so many weapons to later parts of the game.
Unlocking certain upgrades would make more sense. Or potentially unlocking new weapons skills that can be swapped out similar to how spells can be swapped to further mix up play styles.
But locking the weapons themselves for so much of the game is obnoxious, and doesn't help when it comes to replayability. -
18 May, '25
Ser_ElrykYeah, with now 14 weapon-types, and different players going to find some more appealing, all the choices (as far as weapon types) being available by the end of ACT II sounds good. I favor the one-handed sword, so I'm good to go from the start. But what if my friend's preferred weapon doesn't unlock until Lvl 80+? That would suck. Not only having to wait that long to get it, but then basically having very little game left to actually become familiar with the weapon and enjoy wielding it in boss battles and such.
-
20 May, '25
HighTecWhile were at it, why not also NOT make a upgrade version of a weapon available before the base version? I can get a merciless iron whip recipe in act 2, but the whip only unlocks in act 3?
-
21 May, '25
Disappointed GuyThis Slasher change is really disappointing. Moving them to a level 75 boss basically cuts them out of most of the game for anyone who prefers that weapon type. It used to be an exciting mid-game option — now it's locked behind endgame. Why even let us loot Merciless Iron Slasher recipes if we can’t craft the base version? That just feels like bad design or oversight. This doesn’t feel like balancing — it feels like forcing players into a narrower playstyle. Slashers had unique mobility and synergy, and taking that away until the very end kills variety and fun. If this is meant to stretch progression or "encourage" other weapon use, it's doing it at the cost of player freedom.
Let us play the way we enjoy, not the way you want to funnel us... -

Alexei100% agree.
While i only play on a private server.
Weapons that unlock so late in the game, feel bad. Like, VERY bad.
"Oh, im at the last stretch of the game and i have to learn a new weapon type? That i can only use in 'endgame' phase? HAH no thank you, il use what i have and know to use from an early point."
While i dont think there is, if there existed low level versions of the weapon as DROPS or purchaseable from vendors with fixed stats. (For pvp balancing if thats part of the reason they dont exist earlier)
But just so players can TRY them earlier. I've lost count how many times i've crated bows and guns and realised how much i dislike using them. Nope, still dont like them. Nope not this playthrough either.
But il gladly adapt to the crossbow almost immediatly.
Gee, wonder why. Its gained early. Yes so is the bow. Which is my point.
Let players at least TRY all types of weapons early in some fashion.
Weapons that unlock past act 2 is.. just no... -

CookieThis is absolutely so frustrating to me. I love the slashers. I play PvE only and I hate that I have to go that far into the game just to unlock my favorite weapon. I get that Stunlock wants more people to vary their playstyle and make PvP more interesting, but to put weapons so late into the game does the exact opposite of that. Most people by that point have already chosen what weapon type they'll use for endgame. This locks out a choice for players. Yes, they can change their minds and choose to use them late game, but there isn't much of the game left by that point, so it seems pretty pointless to.

AnonCan't believe I played the game all the way up to level 40+, just to discover that slashers were basically deleted from the game for PvE-only players.
What a shame.
The suggestion should be stronger. No weapon unlocks past the end of act 1. Iron = all weapon types. But I guess PvP players are golden children, and balancing of their progression is king. The truth is, no progression roadblock would be able to remove the sweat, only unchecking "PvP Enabled" checkbox will. -

iBunny52Honestly, at this point im pretty sure they dont care at all for all the players who enjoy the game for PVE content, everything they do/have done was always based on PVP or thinking about the PVP.
Weapon levels, magic, items, everything.
If they dont stop this bs of trying to make everything around pvp, the game will never change. They could easy just make all those changes option in Sever Settings, so peoples can choose PVP or PVE severs themselves.
Or they change it, change this mind of business (trying to force PVP on peoples, even when the majority of players enjoy more the PVE) and make it optional, or just forget it, never will ever changes. -
18 Aug, '25
PovilasThis change wasn't pvp. At least I don't see different in pvp and I think after creating V boss with slashers they gave slashers to her, daggers to bane and forgot that foulrot is good too for slashers.
-
18 Aug, '25
BunnyThey said themselves the weapon was "strong" so they moved it, and you don't need much to know that everything they have done is trying to make the "PvP better". Everything until now had PVP in mind, you can't even save your progress in your "offline" world because they gotta wiped too. The game have few people's who really only enjoy the PVP side, but most the people's who plays it, enjoy more the PVE content and want they to stop making the game around PVP way.
Thats 0 reason to not turn optional all options they want for PVP, and let players create Offline worlds without a automatic wipe. They can introduce all weapons in early versions to players.
Even give Mod Support would actually solve most the problems, as peoples would then create themselves the earlier weapons and change they loot list.
They could do a lot things and solve everything, but they still choose to make those decisions without even considering the players who plays it, in the end, the game will have 100 players. -

BomooI'm going to be playing legacy 1.0 from now on, I think. This and so many other 1.1 changes to basic stuff are completely boneheaded. Even with all the new features in 1.1, it feels like a three steps forward seven steps back update, and I think in the balance reverting to legacy 1.0 is the better choice.

NervaIf this change was PVP-motivated, it has failed utterly in whatever goal it hoped to achieve. Having a weapon class be 'strong' but unavailable for most of the game is not good balancing. It is simply pointless limiting of options.
If a weapon type is too strong and needs to be balanced (either nerfed or other weapons buffed, I don't care which method and I'm not here to discuss that), then simply making it unavailable until late doesn't help PvP. It simply means that those further in the game that do have it unlocked will be even more oppressive over those earlier in the game that don't.
This creates an environment of 'don't PVP until you have the god weapon' and devalues all other weapons in relation to slashers. Players won't have played against slashers and won't have learned slasher counterplay, leading to them being easy for slasher users. If anything, if you want to balance them, make them available earlier, and then actually balance them without touching availability. -

MithranArkanereRather that making weapons the vblood unlocks, I would prefer if all weapons after sword, axe, mzce and spear were available from research in the first reasearch station, and the vblood unlocks would be something else related to weapkns instead. For example, "sigils" similar to jewels that you can craft to insert into a non-arcestral weapon to give them 1 property like those of ancestral weapons. So you badicaly make a pseudo arcane weapon with just one extra property when you aply a sigil to it. The properties would be put in categories, and you'd unlock each category. When you craft a "sigil" of a category, it has a random property from that category.
