Spiral Stairs and more stairs options
I see all those 2x2 towers and single tile towers and they are beaultifull, but unfortunatelly useless.
Let's have 2x2 and 1x1 spiral stairs, designed to stack above and/or bellow.
I've come up with 2 design of spiral, one for 180°, and other for 270° (make mirrored too). There's room for a 360° too.
I'm adding images of stair options, some made by a reddit user AstraSai, they really make the castle feel worth it.

globeadue Merged- Allow consecutive stairs without having to have multiple square gaps between them to make one contiguous staircase.
- Allow intersection of stairs to not block each other
See screen shot where two stairs cannot be placed because of the forced square space at the bottom of each preventing placement. -

VhostymI would really like to see switchback stairs, i.e., the stairs go up in one direction halfway to a flat landing in between the two floors, and then back the other direction. These would have to take a 2x2 square on the bottom and top floors, but it would allow for more compact stair placement.

TellemainIf I may add another to this post, Either a Combined Stair or the ability to fuse stairs with placement. The screenshot would be an example, where two corner stairs are combined to allow moving up from two different points to the same landing. The inverse would be amazing to have as well, where one stair splits in two different directions.

DaoCulaI would like to be able to put stairs onto stairs.
I would love to build a nice long and big stairway. I get that there is some balancing issues in pvp, but why cant you offset these for PvE servers?
It aint that hard to offset the restriction if you disable PvP on your server. It's kinda just one sentence in the code no? -

MithranArkanereIt would be nice if each stair set had an alternate floating version that has room to walk under it and can be stacked on top of other stairs as long as the entrance isn't blocked.
1-tile spiral stairs are annoying to traverse, but they would still come in handy for castle design and to replace stairs more easily, as they would only take 1 tile.
We could also use elevators.
They could be unlocked in Gloomrot from an electric VBlood. They could be a special tile-structure like the Castle Heart and stairs. When two are placed vertically on top of each other, they would connect.
Interacting with the structure from outside would call the elevator and open the door, while interacting from inside would go to the other floor or open a small menu to choose a floor when more than 2 are connected.
Elevators could use the same door slot as castle doors, and we could have a new sliding door type that works for both elevators and castle doors.
DLCs could have elevators and sliding door variants.
