  That might be confusing. you wouldn't know for sure if it is empty or not until it's too late.
  Maybe just have it burn a significantly reduced cost instead.

  Automation like this is interesting, if my tannery and sawmill can magically run without me, then the mist brazier can shut off in daylight

  Or be able to set a servant to have tasks around the castle and turning off stuff or fetching items after they are done be things we can assign to them.

  I would also like a slightly indicated fog which creeps over the ground. :)
  
  And yeah an automatic shut-off during the night is desirable.
  Farming bones is a bit annoying in the early phases of the game.
  And if you forget to shut it off, it can really make me feel stupid & depressed. ^^

  Visual effect could easily make it apparent if it is empty or not. have small pile of bones in brazier if it has bones, have it be an empty bowl if it is empty. Done :)

  It would be nice if they were for visual effect at night without using bones or reduced, but functional during the day using bones!

  Braziers should automagically shut off during the night. There's no reason for them to be burning bones to no effect. Hell, no reason they should be burning bones when you're not home at all.

  Or at least quicker way to turn them on without opening the menu for them

  Maybe a Tier 2 mist brazier that could be set to turn off at day if you want, but can also burn other things in it. Like burn herbs with soul dust to get AoE buffs. (move speed, blood consumption slower) stuff like that to help when at base.
