Better Fishing/Fish Hatchery
As a big survival/farming life game player, the fishing mechanic feels like an afterthought. Having to go out of my way to locate a fishing spot on top of everything else we have to manage is frustrating. I'm a big fan of the prison mechanic, and having it tied to fishing the way it is right now is not fun. I'd like to see something in the future where we can either craft bait to fish anywhere and/or attract certain fish, and to also maybe start our own fish pond/hatchery with the fish we do catch.

KatherineI like the idea of maybe having a pond we could stock and have proliferate on its own

SlyOkamiRemove fishing spots, reduce catch-rate and make it so we can fish anywhere along water!

Artimecion1Yes, please! Look at Stardew valley for inspiration on the player mode fish ponds. I would also like to see fishing in all water, and the Bibles would give a better chance at more/rare catch.

Bil Simser MergedIt would be great if we can use specific bait on fishing rods to catch different type of fish (or have a better chance at specific type of fish).

GreatApeApexBeing able to craft piers that we can place into claimed water tiles, the piers greatly increase fish drop chance from fishing ripples and fishing ripple occurrence. And as a higher tier of building the fish pond/hatchery that we have to stock with adults we catch out in the wild (or from our pier).
My friend is a huge fan of the fishing and loves that it is sometimes risky. I dont want to lose the risk, but having more reliable fish will be necessary for expanded prisoner systems. So with your suggestions fishing out in the wild will still reward you with hats and mats but home base fishing options become more reliable. -

Adam MergedBeing able to make some small pond where u can fish maybe once a day?
+ charm worker and he will do the job for us.
Something kind of fish building.
Maybe pay him for silver (but he won't be charmed just hired but workers are scared of vamipers so maybe not a good idea)
Limited to 2 (with current rng) buildings or 1 (if worker will or we will get 100% some kind of fish). -

MansenIt would be cool to have a fish farm like structure similar to the rat's nest. Basic recipes with plant material and blood essence (which could be crafted into fish food in the grinder or alchemy lab?) with lategame recipes using things like silkworms, or needing to fish up fish eggs from actual bodies of water to get things started.

BrianI thought there would be a strategic advantage to having a castle next to a pond but it really doesn't mean much when there's only bubbles in it occasionally. So I have to carry a fishing rod when out adventuring and it can only serve one task.

RobinWould love to be able to grow my own fish in a pond or some way to spawn them like the Vermin Nest.

blxkvyprHad a big day of farming, We went to every pond from top to bottom of the map. (Duo, Not solo)
At the end this was the loot: 6 random fish, a bunch of fish bones, around 12 scourge stone and three nun scarfs...
(We're testing if fishing can get you something useful or rare... the rarest thing we got were the scourge stones.) -

CocoonBugThe fish pond idea sounds very nice! I was also thinking that maybe players could find worms in their gardens, but crafting baits does seem more interesting.

BixxewoschdYes, fishing needs some more polish to it. At least add more "fishing spots", jesus christ.

docSome kind of small minigame would go a long way towards making it less mind-numbing. The ability to make a fishing pond or hatchery is a great idea.

GinsengI was about to make a similar post bait would be great to either spawn fishing spots or let you target certain types of rewards.
I'll just add in that I think the possibility of snagging a creature that attacks you would be fun, could have some rare materials or even a boss in there some where. Merfolk/snakes/Crocodilians would be a start.
Different tiers of rods seems like missed opportunity as well.
A in house pond that you can spawn fishing spots by using a bait ball object that functions like a tomb would be appreciated. -

Martin HydeAgree, need certain bait in certain areas to catch certain fish.
There should be a timer on how long it takes to get your fish back to your "pond". -
17 Jun, '22
LuftwolfYes - fishing is just a tedious activity but essential for endgame, having to roam around and only get ONE fish per marker. If any - chances are way too high to catch other stuff than fish..

YoshiFrom what I can tell they don't want fishing to be too strong because it gives you nice resources but at the same time they make it absolutely awful to do. If given the chance to fish anywhere players like me would sit there and fish for the rest of my life. I do think having something like a hatchery is a very interesting idea and would fit very well with the rest of the game. Still though let me fish anywhere devs.

Alan MackenzieDefinitely agreed. The fishing minigame itself is nothing terrible, but having to hunt down the spots, and having no idea what you're going to get makes it very frustrating. Maybe having different level rods to unlock the higher tier items would work well, but I think that some kind of fish pond would be a great addition to a castle. Make it a long process, maybe having to catch two of a kind of fish, then keep them fed for an extended period to keep them producing new fish

zeroTAGAlso to add to this, if the fish baits seem too OP (because certain fish salvage are very powerful), maybe add upgrades to the Fishing Rod, decreasing the chance of getting other stuff than fish, because it is also very frustating to finally find a fishing spot, and get 2 copper ingots, when I clearly need a fish for my prisoners.

HaevlynI agree the fishing mechanic needs work. Sometimes you go out of your way to fish 4 spots and get 1 helmet, 2 iron ingots, 1 fish bone and a scourgestone which is nice, but totally not what you were after in the first place.
A fishing hatchery seems like a great idea. Similar mechanic to gardening now where you find seeds and plant them for a permanently farmable (in small quantities) herbs. Allow us to find fish spawn around the map and place in a fish hatchery that requires plant fibre to slowly generate that fish type.
If you prefer we go out and do the fishing mini-game, then simply allow us to fish anywhere we want. Make all of those water sources near castles actually useful for something! -

jevYes! There needs to be an overhaul to fishing. Those small baskets around the docks and village river need to have fish in them instead of wool and thread. Having to spend hours fishing for specific fish to be able to make potions is becoming tiresome and dull.

VadymTo improve fishing, you can add an aquarium building (different types - like cosmetics) to throw fish into it for breeding. It is aesthetically beautiful and there will be no need to change the mechanics of fishing.

Snarly MergedFishing, has to be, the biggest pain in the ass there is.
Its slow, annoying, and I can never supply my many walking, talking blood bags with enough food to keep them producing efficiently. Its also such a time hog (maybe that's the point? if so that's bs. You should be filling your game with content, not road blocks.)
I want to be out and about ending human lives. Or hunting V Bloods. Not twiddling my thumbs while I wait forever for, oh wait . . .4 copper ingots! yay!
This is disrespectful of player time investment.
I have a solution!
The Castle Aquarium.😊 Build it. Fish there endlessly. Keep your blood slaves fat and happy!
Result: Spend way more time in V Rising, you know, actually playing the game.
Thanks! -

LowKeyomg i hate fishing. i know u can find these stuff by killing as well (which i got most of my fish from, including twilight fish) but stil... maybe there could be introduced more trader npcs such as fisherman. its also not so easy or efficient to find silver coins (from my experience) so that might also need a work around in the case of more traders are introduced.

GunnarHonestly, the hatchery is really damn expensive as is... Except for rats, I don't use the object at all.. It's just not worth the material costs to spawn anything but rats..
-

TimPlease add at the docks, a fish market, and a fish merchant trader. We can buy new hats and cosmetics there. We can buy and also trade fish there. There should be a couple spots on the map for it.
Also tiers of fishing rods, aquarium, and mermaids would be sick. Along with this, mermaid statues. and other water themed assortments. Hell, even a fishing bonus potion. -

TimAnother thing I'd like to give feedback on and request, is that whenever I go on a "fishing adventure" it feels like I am fishing up mostly junk that I do not need.
Please eliminate all this junk that we can fish up.
It makes sense to be able to fish up fish bones and hats, etc.
But finding gems and iron ingots, etc, just sucks. Because fishing spots pop up rarely and when they do, you have to make sure you dodge the sun and the NPC's.
***Therefore, the reward you get for getting the cast off, sucks right now.***
I am trying to get sage fish, and I've been to Silverlight and Dunley, and I've got nothing in the 2 hours, yes I spent 2 hours, with a horse...and got no sage fish. I did get duplicate straw hats, and I have an entire box full of straw hats, metal helmets, militia helmets coming out of my a**. And by the way, I am a patient person. If it frustrates me getting ingots and a bunch of dupes instead of actual fish, and not even the fish im looking for, it's definitely oof -

Jason Sheldon ArencibiaOh, better fishing is a thumbs up for me too! I had a bug the other day, I assume a bug. I went to every pond around me, it was a blood moon, only got a few ore and junk catch's. fishing spots must just suck around me. any way. I stayed out burring the day, fishing spots were spotty, but a got a few. that night nothing!!!
There's games that fishing is just my relaxing get away, even a relaxing get away from the in game grind! but fishing in V Rising... This is a unique fishing frustration experience in gaming!! -

DavidI'm throwing my hat into the ring for a fish pond building that works like the vermin nest. Put resources in, wait a while, get fish out.
The fish also all need better descriptions, like a note about what they're used for. I'll even toss out some examples you can use...
Fat Goby: A large and meaty fish, although the flavor is rather bland.
Rainbow Trout: A beautiful and tasty but small fish favored by humans.
Sage Fish: A rare delicacy that humans find both delicious and satisfying.
Blood Snapper: A fish that contains a large amount of blood in its body.
Golden River Bass: A mutant fish with only one eye that somehow attracts spiders.
Swamp Dweller: A fish loved by alchemists for it's mystical properties.
Twilight Snapper: An disgustingly inedible fish somehow beloved by the most vile of vermin.
Fierce Snapper: A powerful and vicious fish sometimes used in alchemy.
The Fish: A deceptively heavy and highly scaled fish. It feels like there's something jingling inside. -

ParkerI'm playing solo and don't have so many time for the game, and the actual fishing system is the reason why I always miss the prisoner mechanism: It's quicker to just find random ennemy to feed rather than to play with RNG, then when you go back to the prisoner, you realise you have to go back to the chest to go get the good fish, then you realise that 1 fish wasn't enough, then you see you have only 2 fishs left in your chest, so you think "I need to go fishing", then you go out, then you fight, then you forget about fishing, then you go back to your castle, then you realise there're still only 2 fishs that left, and then finally you give up about prisoners.
That's probably because of me rather than to this whole system, but each time I create a new game, it's always the same result about prisoners that I finally don't use, because of the random fishing on specific spots that are not always easy to find. -

Lord MergedAll resources in the game have a specific location to farm them, or even a few. The only exception is fish. So the creation of some locations with pond/lake in each zone (for each type of fish can be) will greatly simplify its farming, while creating another place to concentrate players and thus pvp activity. Let the places for fishing in these ponds will be reusable (for example, 5-6 times) and with an increased chance of dropping just fish (or fish ONLY). At the same time reduce the number of fishing spots in the rest of the world, increasing the chance of dropping treasures from them. Also, in order to force players to farm more fish (and run into each other more often), you can as a balance, reduce the % of health and suffering that fish recover and reduce the drop of fish bones in the world.

ThedewgI was hopeful in this current update that fishing would have some rework. After much testing it appears that actual fish caught is around 50%. Considering Oil is quite a highly used item fishing should allow for an adequate amount of fish to be farmed due to risk/reward. My following suggestions for improvement are the following;
Increase the amount of pools and reduce the respawn time
Allow 3 failed attempts before a pool disappears
Have "schools of fish" with particular fish types that can be fished from 3 - 5 times
Increase the catch rate of fish to 90+% the other 10% should be divided into rare tier items or recipes for the area
Introduced stats for fishing rods. -
