  I agree with this completely. The paper press was literally the last research my bf and I unlocked, rendering it mostly pointless.

  I disagree, getting a paper press is not required but feels really good to unlock currently as it gives a small boost to discovery speed.

  Yeah I found paper press as ai was building my first castle, so as soon as I was able to get the items to build it, it made progress and discovering new BP's so quick. I was just pumping paper into it to make scrolls, and than scrolls to schematics... I was way ahead because of finding this early early game.

  I'm fairly certain the paper press is gained from a study. In order to construct a Study, you will need to defeat Nicholaus, for the blueprint. You only need 12 Planks and 12 Copper Ingots to build a Paper Press.

  On both servers I've played on, the Paper Press was one of the last research unlocks our clan obtained. We had mostly finished research at the study and fully completed the tier 1 research. The current cost to make schematics does not make it worthwhile on item input or time to farm the silver ore and spectral dust to make it. It is much quicker to obtain schematics from farming in the Silverlight Hills region and sending servants on missions to Brighthaven.

  Yes. The press is too strong to be gated behind random mechanics.
  
  The boss should be a lvl 50 boss or so, maybe a new boss they have in the pipeline.

  I have a better idea, it should be released when doing the journal's mission to create the research table, it really shouldn't be something random.

  I'll add that the paper press needs rebalancing. The problem is making scrolls/schematics is such a huge resource dump, but also those resources are better used elsewhere for how easy it is to farm scrolls/schematics (just do a loop in a town in the area, wait a bit, repeat, easy to get 50-100 scrolls/schematics)
  
  At current costs, Gem Dust is better used to make Banshees to help with Scourgestone/Grave Dust farm.
  Spectral Dust takes Gem Dust and Ghost Crystal, but Ghost Crystal is only currently used to make Spectral Dust and it's faster to farm the towns than it is to farm Ghost Crystal for the amount you need, even with Library flooring.
  
  It's already a T2 rng research and the recipes to Scrolls/Schematics are locked behind bosses, it can afford to be a bit more generous in its production.

  This was our first research drop and while it has made lots of paper, it has barely made any scrolls because we spend the gem dust elsewhere (siege Golems o_o), so our experience does not seem to match other commenters. Neat find but not a game changer for us.
  
  As an aside, it might be worth mentioning that we get 90% of our research from servant hunts to human locations.

  Nicholaus the Fallen should give the Paper Press structure with his current reward, the Study, to be honest. There's an entire ecosystem around making Paper/Scrolls/Schematics that simply does not get used due to the RNG nature of the drop - which makes it largely useless by the time it actually does drop, as you've likely already gone through all Research Desk and Study research, with only a few left to learn in the Anethaeum. With that being said, Schematics cannot be learned until you take down Matka the Curse Weaver, so by the time you're doing level 72 content, the paper press is almost certain to be completely redundant.

  I would be fine with the paper press still being something random as long as there was still something to use scrolls and schematics for after finishing research, maybe a consumable spell scroll or a decoration (bookshelves or something) of some kind.

  The paper press should be considered a Tier 1 technology in the first place. By the time you get it in Tier 2 most of the recipes are already useless and/or too expensive to be actually used.

  Agreed. It's a way too important resource to have. Especially in a pvp server where you're trying to have a lead.

  I'm nearly done with all the Study recipes and I only got it today. At 61lvl. Dawnbreak Village hates me.
  
  Research Desk has the room specific floors which you want to get ASAP, losing 25% of your materials feels really bad.
  Either decrease the paper cost for the research desk recipes or increase the recipe drops from low level bosses.
  
  Also, as someone else has already said, the material costs to craft scrolls and schematics are WAY too high, eradicating a village will give you much better results while also providing all kinds of other loot.

  My biggest complaint is the cost to create schematics seems WAY WAY too high. It's not anywhere near worth it to dump the materials needed to craft schematics

  I made my own server and made it so that I get 5 times the ressources.
  Wether from ressources farming or looting dead Humans. And what I found out was horrifying. ;)
  
  The ressources needed to create the materials to make paper & higher grade papers are sooooooooooo exaggerated!!
  Like - how can this ever be worth the time? It is so much quicker to just go out and be a murderhobo-Vampire who slaughters Humans constantly.
  This way you can fairly quickly discover all the recipes.
  And people can also drop the books which are direct recipes.
  
  Even if I had not increased the value of dropped papers by x5, I cannot see how the values to make papers with the press can ever be justified.
  This machine devours way too much ressources that we need for other things as well.
  Not a fan.

  Paper/scrolls/schematics is out of control, especially if you're trying to play the game solo, even with multiple servants. The droprate of books and paper/s/s needs to either be dramatically increased and/or the paper press needs to be freely unlockable early with cheaper mats. Research is too important for the whole game thanks to floors/gear level affecting everything you do. Trying to grind bosses and loot endlessly while you're 4-6 levels down isn't fun.
  
  It seems like the Paper Press was originally a Farbane-level recipe but something happened and it was quickly changed?

  I don't really care for the drop. The real problem with the paper press was after 300 hours of playing the game, we have nothing to do with schematics, paper, or sawdust. All other resources we can still use and cycle through by building. But the schematics, paper and sawdust we find ourselves dropping tons and tons and stacks of it all over the ground because it becomes abundant and not reusable into something else like most other things in the game.
  
  I believe they are aware of this and already said they are working on the paper press to have a better use.

  totally needs a buff. it needs to be available much earlier perhaps after killing nicholas the fallen. also library flooring needs a buff. probably discounted usage of paper/scroll/schem when using them for research.

  I'm with this 100% as well. Something so vitally important to advancing within the game should not rely on RNG and at such a late stage. Compounding the matter is that the paper press is currently still only made via planks and copper ingots, which tells me this item was meant to be unlocked when you defeat Nicholas the Fallen, so you'd unlock both the paper press and the study at the same time and that makes perfect sense.

  i allways start to research every tier full, than move to the next, and by doing so i had the paper press long bevore i could get the parts to use it...
  so i dissagree no need to change that...
